Our approach
Our approach is guided by three key principles.
Successful digital services are designed to satisfy customers’ and users’ needs, and to help them meet those needs as simply and easily as possible.
Your customers and users are focused on their own needs; they will use your digital service to complete the tasks that they need to fulfil.
They will judge your digital service by how successfully it provides for their needs and how simply and easily it allows them to complete their tasks.
For this reason, we design our clients’ digital services primarily by focusing on customers and users, and it’s why we are committed to the development and use of personas (pen portraits of archetypal customers and users) to guide our work.
Digital services are not built if they don’t provide business value and gain stakeholder support.
However customer- and user-focused a digital service is, it simply won’t be built if it doesn’t meet a business need.
So, we place our customer and user focus in the context of the business needs of our clients.
Digital services also need full stakeholder support to be considered truly successful. Stakeholders may not be customers, users or our clients (the digital service owners), so we cast our net wide to ensure all stakeholders are engaged throughout the lifetime of a project.
Rapid, frequent prototyping facilitates communication, helps foster creativity and innovation, and avoids costly mistakes.
We are committed to the use of rapid, frequent prototyping of the digital services we design.
We develop an early prototype of the digital service as soon a practically possible, which we then use as stimulus material in early requirements elicitation sessions with customers and users, and in early briefing sessions with clients and stakeholders.
We frequently iterate the prototype, amending and building in light of our emerging understanding of requirements and the reactions to earlier prototypes.
The eventual result is a final prototype that acts as a vital part of the digital service design blueprint we deliver to our client at the end of a project.
